Rohy Consulting Associates, 2000- Principal in an energy consulting practice specializing in distributed generation, renewable energy, energy impacts on the environment and energy strategies. Clients include Fortune 500 companies and start-up companies. Practice focuses on advancing technology to enhance energy efficiency and to improve environmental compliance.
Adjunct Professor, San Diego State University, Department of Physics 2002-
- Co-Director of Energy Innovation Small Grant Program. Program provides funds to individuals and small companies to prove the feasibility of innovative energy concepts. The California Energy Commission funds this program.

Designed and managed a $62.5 million/year public interest energy R&D program, the largest such state fund in the country. All R&D was focused on the electricity ratepayers in California. Directed staff to implement program policy. Networked with a large segment of the U.S. research and development community.
- Presiding Member, 1996 Electricity Report
- Presiding Member, 1996 Biannual Energy Report. This was the California Governor’s energy policy document adopted in 1997. This document set the policy on energy development and use in California.
Solar Turbines Inc., A Caterpillar Company, 1970–1995
Solar Turbines produces intermediate-sized combustion turbines used for distributed generation and for pumping of oil and natural gas. They are not considered utility sized turbines.
- Director, Advanced Turbine Systems, 1993-1995
Developed product and technology strategies. Actively participated in the Caterpillar Research Committee. Directed very large cooperative Solar Turbines - Department of Energy development programs to achieve high efficiency and ultra-low emissions. Secured $100 million outside funding for R&D programs.
- Director, Development Engineering, 1990-1993
Led major product technology groups directly supporting the company product line: Combustion, materials, aerodynamics, and heat transfer.
